Our team of volunteers at the Museum is essential to the visitor experience and to the security of the collection. We appreciate their donation of time as we welcome more visitors every year. With this increase in visitors and a shift to more unscheduled visits, we are actively recruiting new volunteers.

What volunteers do.

Volunteers work in the exhibition areas of the Museum. They are responsible for welcoming visitors, orienting them to the Museum, providing them with acoustiguides, supervising the galleries and providing visitors with information about the collection. Security is an essential element of their work.

Volunteers work in shifts of 4 to 8 hours. We negotiate a time commitment with each volunteer.

What are the attributes we are looking for?

We are looking for volunteers who live in the greater Boston area, preferably not far from MetroWest where the Museum is located. Some key traits are:

  • Reliable
  • Attentive to security details
  • Enjoy working and talking with people

We are particularly interested in veterans.

Volunteers do not have to be an expert on the War but they do need an overall knowledge of it. Our visitors are curious and like to interact with volunteers.

We will train you and pair you with an experienced volunteer.

We are specifically looking for…

At the present time we are looking for volunteers

  • Who can work a shift until 4 PM in the afternoon, or
  • Who have an interest in assisting with school groups in the morning.
