A Building to Fit the Mission

The centerpiece of our Capital Campaign is the construction of a new building, beautifully designed and wisely affordable. The rendering above captures the spirit and mission of the Museum. It captures the Museum’s global reach and reputation. With this well-scaled building, we will be able to sustain the Museum, its collections and educational programs, into the future.

We have the land and the permits

A year ago we raised the funds to purchase the land adjacent to the present Museum. The new Museum will be built around the present one. This ensures that during construction the present Museum will be open almost continuously.

Your support is vital

We are two-thirds of the way towards our Capital Campaign goal of $26 million. Join us so that we can begin construction in 2018 and open the doors in 2019. Gifts to support the construction of the new Museum have ranged from a few hundred dollars to multi-million donations.

Naming opportunities

The galleries and exhibition areas, and the “reflection areas” within them, are among many meaningful naming opportunities. Others are the special exhibitions gallery, the Archives, the Research Library, the Research Center, the Conservation Laboratory, the Lobby and key staff positions.

Matching a capital grant

Last year we were awarded a capital grant of $300,000 by the Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Council, the highest amount awarded in 2016. To use it for the early construction phase, we are required to match it one for one. Donors at all levels continue to come forth as we actively secure these matching funds.

You make such a difference

With its new building, the Museum will become a leader in teaching about the causes and consequences of war, and about the values and lessons of the most cataclysmic event in modern times. There is no other museum with the collection resources we have who can do this.

Honoring our donors

In the new Museum, we will honor our donors with prominent placement on our walls or in our electronic donor book available in the lobby. Join us and other visionaries.
