Middlesex Savings Charitable Foundation Award the Museum a Grant to Support Expansion of Professional Development Institute for Teachers

We are pleased to announce that the Middlesex Charitable Foundation has awarded the Museum a grant of $15,000 to support the expansion of a fully subsidized professional development institute for teachers.

Our workshop, Designing Curriculum-Based on Original Documents and Artifacts at The International Museum of World War II, will be held in the summer of 2017 in collaboration with ACCEPT Education Collaborative.  Middle and high school history teachers will research, discuss, and develop lessons through access to exhibits and selected archives at the Museum.

Teachers may choose to create a new curriculum area or enhance an area that is already taught in their classroom. The curricula developed may either be freestanding or utilized in conjunction with student visits at the Museum in 2017-18. Teachers will have discretion in their topic selection and will develop lessons based on their specific course assignments and interests, as well as their district and school priorities.

Additionally, a distinguished scholar from a local university will present, lead discussion, and link his/her expertise to the Museum’s collection.
