Atomic Bomb

Harry Truman’s order to drop atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in early August 1945 was one of the most controversial events of the entire war. The Museum displays a number of unique items including the personal effects from the crew of the Enola Gay which dropped the first bomb on Hiroshima, original newspapers carrying the shocking headlines, and objects that survived the bomb blast.
